Industrial Equipment And Employment Generation

When you think about industrial equipment you definitely would imagine huge industrial buildings where hundreds of skilled or semiskilled workers toiled ceaselessly. Or maybe you think of pedigree engineering colleges where future top engineers get their hands-on knowledge. Did you know however, that the lathe machine and other such industrial machinery can be put to other uses as well? Consider this, only about 27% of the total youth go through college and earn their degrees. What happens to the rest that consists of a whopping 73% (approx.)? Some pick up odd and end jobs and continue schooling, some settle in their mediocre life and a good number give in to their frustration and take up drugs and crime and become anti-socials.

There is a way out. These school and college drop outs can find employment if they get skill-based and vocational training and this is where the use of industrial equipment comes in. The concept is to set up industrial training centers where such youth would be taught hands on to work on automatic lathes, material handling and other things that would help them in getting appropriate placement in industries. In this way, the energy of these youth would find a channel towards positive outcome instead of imminent doom.

This concept has worked wonders wherever it has been implemented whether in under-developed countries, developed or advanced, as the United States. The idea holds water because basically human beings love to work for their livelihood, provided they can do so with dignity and self-satisfaction. Training on a lathe machine or cnc mills or any such industrial equipment can turn an aimless person into a skilled hand who is able to earn a good salary and live with dignity. This is not a degree but a certification course where such individuals can find employability.

Efforts have always been focused on finding placement for the elite graduate class, because they are employable. What about the bottom of the pyramid? A simple training course in handling different industrial machinery can become a turning point in the lives of millions such young people who feel they are no good for any well-paying job or for any particular profession. The need of the day, if you look at the statistics, is not finding jobs for the upper crust but generating employment for college dropouts and those not attending college, for a better and safer tomorrow. Therefore, using industrial laboratories or training centers where industrial equipment can make the difference between skilled and unskilled labor is something worth thinking about.
