Industrial Equipment And Employment Generation

When you think about industrial equipment you definitely would imagine huge industrial buildings where hundreds of skilled or semiskilled workers toiled ceaselessly. Or maybe you think of pedigree engineering colleges where future top engineers get their hands-on knowledge. Did you know however, that the lathe machine and other such industrial machinery can be put to other uses as well? Consider this, only about 27% of the total youth go through college and earn their degrees. What happens to the rest that consists of a whopping 73% (approx.)? Some pick up odd and end jobs and continue schooling, some settle in their mediocre life and a good number give in to their frustration and take up drugs and crime and become anti-socials.

There is a way out. These school and college drop outs can find employment if they get skill-based and vocational training and this is where the use of industrial equipment comes in. The concept is to set up industrial training centers where such youth would be taught hands on to work on automatic lathes, material handling and other things that would help them in getting appropriate placement in industries. In this way, the energy of these youth would find a channel towards positive outcome instead of imminent doom.

This is a wonderful concept which has withstood the acid test wherever it was tried, whether this was in poor countries or developed ones. The success is attributed to the fact that this industrial training which is not as expensive as a degree program, offers these unemployable youths a professional identity and recognition. A simple training course on the lathe machine or cnc mills can turn a aimless youth into a skilled and in demand professional. In this way the industrial equipment used in such training provide a new life to young people who would otherwise might not have an industry to go into.

If you look at the general trends the placement of graduates has always been on the forefront. There are placement agencies all over the world which cater to these elite bracket assisting them to find their dream jobs. The market normally turns a blind eye to the huge mass of unemployable youth. Yes, they can get odd-and-end jobs to fill their stomachs, but there is little professional dignity in that or scope for a career path. When industrial equipment is used a training material for such students, there is a lot of good that comes of it. The same industrial machinery and machine tools here become vehicles of change and economic self-sufficiency.
