Statistics show that about 27% of the total youth in USA reach graduation level. That leaves out about 73% hanging in the land of unemployment, which is definitely not a good picture. Unless these people find some focus in their lives, they are likely to get into trouble with the law at different levels. Industrial equipment and machinery can be used here to change this scenario. While you normally associate heavy machinery and machine tools with industries and engineering colleges, a new concept is slowly emerging for employment generation; that of industrial training.

There is a way out. These school and college drop outs can find employment if they get skill-based and vocational training and this is where the use of industrial equipment comes in. The concept is to set up industrial training centers where such youth would be taught hands on to work on automatic lathes, material handling and other things that would help them in getting appropriate placement in industries. In this way, the energy of these youth would find a channel towards positive outcome instead of imminent doom.

This concept has worked wonders wherever it has been implemented whether in under-developed countries, developed or advanced, as the United States. The idea holds water because basically human beings love to work for their livelihood, provided they can do so with dignity and self-satisfaction. Training on a lathe machine or cnc mills or any such industrial equipment can turn an aimless person into a skilled hand who is able to earn a good salary and live with dignity. This is not a degree but a certification course where such individuals can find employability.

Employment, career, jobs have a meaning and focus basically only for the elite graduates who seem to eternally in search of their dream jobs. It looks like for every one young person who graduates there are three who do not make it. When industrial equipment is used to set up industrial training centers, the lathe machine and other such machinery provide a turning point in the lives of these unemployable youth, by giving them a direction in their professional life.
